Day 1
Departure from New York

Arrival

  • Visit Bar-Ilan University and tour facilities
    • Meet with President of Bar-Ilan University
    • Meet with representatives from the faculty and student body to discuss the place of high education in Israeli society
    • Group meetings of fellows paired with Israeli academics Check in and Rest
  • Introductory Panel Discussion on Political/Diplomatic Challenges Facing Israel: Optional Stroll on the Midrachov – Jerusalem’s Pedestrian Mall

Overnight: Jerusalem


Day 3

  • Morning Discussion: Pioneering a Sustainable Future, participate in an open discussion with leaders from some of Israel’s premier renewable energy companies
  • Visit Tel Aviv’s Florentine District and Neve Tzedek
  • Stop at Independence Hall
  • Visit Tel Aviv University and tour facilities
    • Meet with President of Tel Aviv University
    • Meet with representatives from the faculty and student body to discuss the place of high education in Israeli society
    • Group meetings of fellows paired with Israeli academics
  • Evening Cultural Program: Israeli Society through the Lens of a Camera, meet young film makers:

Day 4

  • Optional Architectural Walk in Tel Aviv’s Bauhaus District OR Leisurely morning in a seaside café
  • Dinner in Old Jaffa
  • Evening Cultural Program: Israel Takes Center Stage, performance by the world-renowned Batsheva Dance Troupe

Overnight: Tel Aviv


Day 5
Depart for the North

  • Visit Haifa University and tour facility – Meet with colleagues at Haifa University
  • Tour of the Tefen Industrial Park
  • Tour of the Lebanon Border with Military Experts
  • Visit the Technion and tour facilities - Meet with colleagues at the Technion
    • Meet with representatives from the faculty and student body to discuss the place of high education in Israeli society
    • Group meetings of fellows paired with Israeli academics
  • Understanding the Impact of the Security Fence
  • Visit the Interdisciplinary Center (IDC) in Hertzliya and tour facilities
    • Meet with President of the IDC
    • Meet with representatives from the faculty and student body to discuss the place of high education in Israeli society
    • Group meetings of fellows paired with Israeli academics

Return to Jerusalem

Free Evening to Explore Jerusalem

Day 6
Travel South

  • Gaza: From the Withdrawal to Today Experts will lead tours and initiate discussion of the effects on both sides of the fence
  • Visit to Kibbutz Nahal Oz and Sderot
  • Visit to Nitzan, meet with former residents of Gaza now living in caravan villages
  • Meet with military personnel for a briefing of Israel’s challenges in the south
  • Meet with expert on Palestinian affairs to discuss what is happening on the other side
  • Visit Ben Gurion University and tour facility
    • Meet with President of Ben Gurion University
    • Meet with representatives from the faculty and student body to discuss the place of high education in Israeli society
    • Group meetings of fellows paired with Israeli academics
  • Travel to Tel Aviv
  • Evening Panel Discussion: Covering the Conflict, a panel of Israel’s leading Arab Affairs correspondents will analyze the region’s most complex issues

Overnight: Tel Aviv

  • Visit to the Knesset, panel of Knesset Members from across the political spectrum
  • Wrap Up Discussion/Panel Bringing together the issues that were raised Independent Time for Shopping and Exploration
